International Council

..:: Global Trust Center International Council

The GTC International Council represents an upgrading of the international steering group that oversaw work on the feasibility study preceding the establishment of the GTC as a separate organisation in 2006. The Council has one representative from each country that has joined the GTC process. Individual members are selected following extensive consultations with country representatives, who speak in a personal capacity. Their judgements should be based on consideration for the good of the individual user in the context of the long-term development of the information society. Members are asked to observe the conditions of the GTC Global Policy and to support its core mission. Council decisions are not legally binding.

Apart from Council members, representatives of organisations that sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the GTC are also invited to the GTC Global Council meeting, as are observers from other organisations that pursue relevant missions, such as the United Nations. Experts and representatives from government and business are also invited to parts of the meeting.
